There are not too many tech companies in Zimbabwe but Saith Technologies is one that stands out. Saith Technologies identifies itself as an innovative African company with a vision for a greener future.
Who is the founder of Saith Technologies?
Saith Technologies was founded by Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso. Sangulani dropped out of high school when he was only in form two so that he could pursue his passion for inventing things. Born and bred in Harare Zimbabwe, Chikumbutso continues to build and innovate. He has appeared on various programs including SABC news talking about some of his innovations and the future of his company.
What does Saith Technologies Produce?
If you visit the Saith Technologies website you will find six specific product classes namely: UAV Drone, Saith Avionics, Saith Power, Saith Motors, Saith Technologies, and road signs.
Their UAV called the Hex-copter can fly in the rain and also in calm conditions. According to Saith Technologies, it is suitable for border patrol, danger investigation, rescue and search missions, road monitoring, geological surveying and mapping, electricity and forest fire prevention.
The drone fuselage is made to withstand harsh conditions yet it is lightweight. It also comes with an ultra-high-definition camera with night vision and thermal imaging.
Another fascinating product from Saith technologies would be the road markers. These markers use an energy conversion process which they call illumino. The markers are supercapacitors that use no solar, no electricity, no batteries. They emit highly visible LED light and they make night driving much easier and safer. They have an intelligent auto-switch that turns on at night and off during the day.
There are many other products from Saith that one would find interesting like the helicopter, telecommunication systems, and electric car. Most of the products from this company have not yet gone commercial they are still prototypes. There may be a few more hurdles for the company to meet the country’s regulations. Saith is a company to keep an eye on as they come up with all these exciting innovations.
Most recently, Saith technologies released a prototype of a self-powered television. Without any connection to the power supply, the television can switch on and run just like any other normal television. Maxwell has come with a special technology where radio frequency is turned into an electrical current enough to power the television.
There are still some doubts and debates over Saith’s self-powered electrical vehicle, the FEV, which uses a similar technology of turning radio frequency into power. It is powered by an MSED which is renewable energy with zero emission.
Even after demonstrating his innovation, Max was dismissed by other scientist/engineers saying there are no grounds for his claims. In the early 1900s one of the greatest inventors to ever live, Nikola Tesla predicted some inventions and innovations that were way ahead of his time. Could it be possible that we are not yet ready for some of Maxwell’s technologies? Only time will tell.
